For The Love of Tails

Updated: Oct 25, 2022

We want everyone to know that once we start breeding, we will be leaving TAILS on our puppies. We will also leave front dewclaws. Both tails and dewclaws serve a valuable purpose and contribute to the bone health of your puppy. While we appreciate and respect that docking is safer for the herding of large stock such as cattle, we do not anticipate many of our puppies going into cattle herding homes. One can safely herd sheep and goats with a tail. The MAS breed standard does allow for tails. In AKC, there is a "preference" for docked but we do not show in AKC conformation, nor are we particularly supportive of the AKC conformation world. UKC and ASDR allow for tails with no penalties when showing. The docking of tails unfairly limits one's ability to compete in international competition and as we are primarily focused on sports, it is of the utmost importance that our future puppies be able to compete at the very highest levels without being thwarted by their docking status. We understand this will cost us some sales; however we also know many, many people who are specifically looking for tails. We will do what is right for our program, even if it isn't popular.

Our newest addition, Sonic, is very proud of her tail!
